We’re based in Victoria, Canada and specialize in distributing science-based information to the public through print and digital publications. Our authors include non-profit organizations, researchers, government agencies and universities, as well as individual writers working in natural sciences, environmental affairs and sustainability.

We provide à la carte services such as writing, editing, indexing, illustration, design and web development, as well as specialty services like project management and consulting, and have integrated teams to complete full-service projects from start to finish. What makes CanScience Books different?

As a small press, we provide our authors with personal attention that they may not find in larger companies. Because we are dedicated to the topics of sexuality, love and relationships, we’re able to offer targeted marketing and promotion to the right audience for your book, and to leverage longstanding relationships with sex- and relationship-positive bookstores and other venues. Our editorial and design approach prioritizes the authenticity of the author’s own voice while providing a level of attention and care that is increasingly unusual in publishing.

We work on a traditional royalty model, and you pay nothing for the publication or promotion of your book. Like most publishers, we encourage authors to engage in their own publicity activities beyond what we provide, and we will help provide you the tools to do this. Some of our authors plan speaking tours, courses or other projects associated with their books and support them with crowdfunding campaigns. We are happy to help you to plan, launch and promote such a campaign, and to collaborate with you on providing perks.

Where can I buy your books?

[description]

Are you interested in submissions?

Yes! We encourage submissions from authors. You should be active within your field of interest with an established public presence (this could be through a blog, website, social media, your speaking history or general professional recognition). We require this both because we seek to create books that offer first-hand, experienced perspective, and because a successful book is supported by a strong public presence.

Do you publish authors who aren’t Canadian?

Yes! We maintain valued relationships with some of our long-term authors from the United States and Europe and we consider new authors from outside Canada.
